Timothy C. Headington

Co-founder

Tim Headington’s passion for the oil and gas business was inspired by his father and uncle, both geologists. He formed an oil and gas company in Oklahoma City in 1978 and relocated the company to Dallas in 1984. It focused on the acquisition of producing properties from both majors and mid-level independents. The company’s efforts resulted in the successful acquisition of non-operated properties and an accumulation of “legacy” assets across many of the onshore basins in the United States.

In the early 1990’s, Tim began to expand to operated property acquisitions which led to his relationship with his current co-founders of Headington Energy Partners, LLC: Pat Smith and Bill Johnston.

Tim graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1972. He continues to be an active supporter of his alma mater. He was honored in 2005 with the OU Regents’ Alumni award and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from OU in 2011. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2014.

Tim is the co-founder of the Headington Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides psychological and physical care for caregivers and first responders worldwide.
